Enterprise initiatives have a key purpose within our school, helping to empower children to lead their own learning. We aim to help our pupils develop economic well-being and life skills such as teamwork, collaboration, communication, creativity, organisation, problem solving to ensure our children are `secondary ready’. Some projects raise money for the school or local charities e.g. The Dogs Trust, Comic Relief and the British Heart Foundation. Other enterprise schemes include a school newspaper, making recipes from our link schools in Africa to sell at coffee mornings and also stalls and games for Christmas fairs and summer socials. Our upper KS2 pupils have the opportunity to work on collaborative young enterprise projects with volunteers from local businesses. In year 6 our pupils also participate in a ‘Dragons Den’ style project where they can work in teams to design, manufacture and advertise their own product. Other initiatives include ‘Be the Boss’ and ‘The Apprentice’ style lessons. Our gardening club sell fresh produce that they have grown in the school garden which enables them to finance the purchase of seed and equipment for the following year.
