Music

Larks Hill is a school that recognises that music is a unique way of communicating that can inspire and motivate children. We make music an enjoyable learning experience and recognise that it has a special place in the curriculum.

Children undertake an enjoyable, balanced programme of activities which builds on previous work and takes achievement into account. Music is essentially a practical subject and should provide first hand experience in which everyone can be involved and feel confident, regardless of musical ability. We encourage children to participate in a variety of musical experiences through which we aim to build up confidence.

We recognise that there are children of widely different musical abilities in all classes, so suitable learning opportunities are created by matching the challenge of the task to the ability of the child.
