Year 6 went to Kingswood Residential, early in June for a well deserved break after they had completed their SATs.
Highlights were the campfire, where we sang songs and told jokes. Connor Jarvis made us laugh by imitating Her Majesty the Queen (very respectfully, of course!) We all absolutely loved flying through the air on the zipwire! Abseiling down a high tower was one of our challenges which we achieved really well.
The two parts that were really great were:
- Sharing a dormitory with our friends (we didn’t get much sleep but the teachers never knew!)
- The brilliant team leaders such as Hollie, who made sure we were safe and they were so encouraging to us!
- When we returned, Mrs Smith our Headteacher came and told us how pleased she was with our behaviour. She told us we were ‘the gold standard’! Wow!
‘It was brilliant! When can we go again?’
On 17 October Reception visited the National Railway Museum in York as part of their Journeys topic.
We had a great time looking at all the different trains.
We sat on the super, fast Bullet Train and looked at the Mallard engine.
Here is a picture of us standing by George Stephenson’s Rocket train.
We took part in a workshop where we were able to get on board a steam train and see how different travelling was over a hundred years ago.
We found out that people only used to get one day’s holiday a year and we pretended to go to the seaside for fish and chips! Here is a picture of some of us in the old carriage.
