At Larks Hill School all children take part in a variety of physical activities. Our aim is to engender in children an enjoyment of being physically active, an understanding of the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices, the ability for personal development to improve their own skills and to instil the importance of fair play. To further support our Physical Education curriculum, we work closely with many local organisations who are able to provide expert coaching and training in a range of disciplines alongside our teaching staff. Furthermore, any additional funding received, such as money through the Primary Schools Funding initiative, is spent on buying in specialist professional expertise. This expertise not only enhances the PE curriculum for children but also supports teachers’ development in delivering their own lessons. For those children who wish to, we also ensure we provide opportunities for competitive sports. These competitions, which take place both within school and at inter-school events at various locations, equip children with a reasoned approach to winning, losing, team working and having tried your best.
